Seems like Wisconsin has made up it's mind and will tab Luke Fickell as the next Badger head coach
Fickell comes in from Cincinnati, where he was 57-18 (2-2 in bowl games) and built a powerhouse. His career mark? That's 63-25 after serving as head man at Ohio State on a interim basis.
Where does that leave home-grown Jimmy Leonard, whom many of the players were calling for to have "interim" taken off his title and made the Wisconsin head man? T
My prediction? Leonard heads off to lead a program of his own, get more head coaching experience than his seven or eight games this year can give, then returns to Wisconsin.
After all, this was what Paul Chryst ended up doing. Leaving after getting passed over for the job when Bret Bielema bolted for Arkansas. Chryst went to Pittsburgh, got more experience and returned to lead Wisconsin for eight seasons, winning six of seven bowl games and posting a 67-26 record.
Sure seems odd to take your best defensive coach and tell him -sorry. Lots of transfers to come.
